We will be in London this Saturday 11th April (Matt ArtPix will have a stall and there will be items from the Arcane Publishing stock there!) for our first Go East Vintage event. We're going to trial a few of their venues and hope to become regular traders with them if it all goes well.

I will bring some art posters, ephemera and quite a lot of paperbacks, including Penguin books, thrillers, detective and sci-fi books. See you there!

Just when we were about to post the list of events we will be attending this Spring, the war in the Middle East has thrown a doubt over all the events we've booked, so we will have to wait and see...

We've had a slow start to 2026, but things are finally moving in the right direction! 

For the past week, we've been opening boxes and checking our shelves to do an audit of the pre-loved, vintage and rare books in our stock and organise everything a little bit more. We need to decide how and where to sell our stock as there is no question of opening a brick-and-mortar shop in the near future, even though it is really what we'd like to do eventually... Online and markets look like the solution we might go for, but we are going to take our time as we want to do this as professionally as possible. We'll need to get a card payment solution for markets and get some promo items done (the Arcane Publishing designer, @mattartpix, is sadly sans computer at the moment!) 

​2026 will also hopefully the year we bring Miss Gish's third novel The Right Place to life. Work is restarting on draft 1 next Monday! 
Whilst foraging in one of the stock cupboard, we came across those handmade promo cards we made back in 2013 to promote the publication of I Am a Muse... They were never used in the end as we wanted to appear a bit more professional than those handmade cards suggested... But now that we've found them again, we thought we might as well use them!
So we'll be dropping them in book boxes in the area and beyond together with copies of I Am a Muse and The Book of Thoth - once the weather has improved, of course!

We will be with @mattartpix on his stall at the @thelazyflea in Chiswick, London, next Sunday 4t January!
We will have a few books (including a box full of £5 books - stock to get rid of!), some beautiful fashion books and prints as well as ephemera.
This is always a packed event, so let's see how many people venture out on what promises to be a cold post-holiday Sunday!

🐾 Please note: no dogs allowed at the venue.
It's the last few days of 2025 and we are not completely up and running yet!

Loads of plans afoot ... We will proceed slowly but surely..,.

We have had a very busy 2025, but it wasn't about book writing or selling... 

We can now announce that we will be back in 2026 as we develop our bookselling business! 
I will be using this blog and that on the Arcane Publishing website more in the future as I don't think soial media is working. 

So watch this space, things will start moving from the end of January onwards!

Yet another intermission... 

The writing/publishing side of Arcane Publishing has been on a hiatus for the past five years as we decide how best to move forward with Arcane Publishing. Sadly, publishing another indie title doesn't really make sense these days.

In 2026, we will be concentrating on our pre-loved, vintage and rare books. 
The time is just not right at the moment (see this article in the publishing industry magazine The Bookseller).

We haven't posted on here for a long time, but finally, we are back! 

A lot has happened during out time away from the Arcane Publishing website - if you wish to get more up-to-date news though, then please follow our INSTAGRAM PAGE HERE. We try and post as regularly as possible! 

We are just coming back to Arcane Publishing properly this week, and we have started thinking about the next few months. 

All activity on the writing/publishing side of Arcane has been paused for the time being. We have decided to give priority to the development of the pre-loved, vintage and rare books side of Arcane. This winter, we will be working on developing our online bookshop which we hope to launch in early 2026. 

In the meantime, Arcane will be appearing with Matt ArtPix at two events this September with a small stock of books (see our Instagram for details!). These are two events we have done before and they are truly brilliant. We can't wait to be back in London and Brighton!

We will be updating this website regularly over the next few months leading to the launch of the online shop (probably an Etsy shop in the first instance). Also pop to Miss Gish's website for some updates on her writing progress.

On Saturday 7th June, Arcane and @mattartpix had a stall at the Brighton @vintagefurnitureflea organised by @judysvintage - this was their first event in the city, and considering the length of the queue on opening and the brilliant atmosphere, I think we can safely say it was a big success!
On the left is our stall, with most of Matt's small mid-century furniture items already on their way to their new homes!
We had the feeling that this was going to be a good one anyway, and Brighton didn't disappoint!

The venue was absolutely stunning: St Bartholomew's in the heart of Brighton. This is a really impressive and original building designed by Brighton-based architect Edmund Scott, and it is crammed with beautiful details which unfortunately, we didn't really have time to take in, as we were so busy the whole day!

We had the perfect customer base for us: people who know what they want, are knowledgeable and into beautiful objects, books, furniture and art. It was great to see so many people interested in the prints of Matt's vintage-inspired collage art!

We cannot wait for the next Vintage Furniture and Flea in Brighton - but we will be back much earlier than this as we wish to explore the area properly. We think it might just be the perfect area to move our ArtPix/Arcane HQ in the future...

We have been very busy since coming back from France and we are in full planning mode.
Still on the list of "important things to do" are the launch of an online bookshop this autumn and the publication of Miss Gish's third novel The Right Place, by Spring 2026.

We are really excited to announce that the Arcane/ArtPix team is headed to Brighton this weekend for The Brighton Vintage Furniture and Flea organised by @vintagefurnitureflea this Saturday 7th June in Brighton!

Matt will have his usual colourful stock of carefully hand-picked vintage treasures and we will bring a small selection of vintage 50s, 60s and 70s ephemera and books, including great mid-century sci-fi books and volumes on art and design!

The Brighton area is on our list of *potential* areas to move the Arcane/ArtPix HQ to in the next few years... So it'll be great to have a first look at it!
