1/27/2019 First events of 2019 announced! We have been a bit quiet online recently, but this doesn't mean we are idle - quite the contrary!
We have been working behind the scene on getting some smashing stock and booking events for the next few months. Our first event of 2019 will be very soon at the fantastic Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre and it will be the Loulou's Vintage Fair on 17th February. Arcane will take up a small corner of Matt ArtPix's stall and we will bring some interesting, arty, glamorous and rare books! We will keep adding events to our EVENTS PAGE over the next few months, so do come back soon! This is a rare book!
If you love Pop Art, especially British Pop Art, then this is for you. This is the catalogue of the exhibition "Pop Art: British Pop Art 1956-1972" which took place in 2004 at the Galleria Civica di Modena in Italy. It features detailed descriptions (in Italian and English) of works by David Hockney, Richard Hamilton and Peter Blake among others. In perfect condition, this book is a must for contemporary art lovers! We go and look for stock as often as possible, but to find great quality and interesting books at good trade prices is not always easy. Over the past few days, we have acquired a number of interesting volumes and we've picked a few of them in order to introduce them on this very blog. First up: Alexander McQueen - Working Process by Nick Waplington. This is the book which accompanied the exhibition of the same name at Tate Britain in 2015. In 2007, the artist and photographer Nick Waplington was commissioned to document the late fashion designer's working process as he prepared his retrospective collection for a Paris fashion show. From concept to the actual event, Nick's camera captured the intensity of the work of a fashion designer and his team. I cannot show you this copy as it is still unwrapped and therefore is a brand new copy in perfect condition! More about the 2015 exhibition HERE. Here is a video of Nick Waplington explaining how he worked on this project: Arcane Publishing is slowly emerging from a well-deserved rest, and we have started planning for the year ahead.
We will be booking markets/fairs and events soon and we will post all dates and details on our EVENTS PAGE. We also have plans to open a "proper" online shop (our very small shop at the moment only sells our two published novels I Am a Muse and The Book of Thoth) The setting up of the shop will depend on other factors out of our control, though, and we will keep you updated on this at a later date. Work will start again on Miss Gish's third novel, The Right Place, and we hope to publish in early 2020. We will post updates on this throughout the year. Keep an eye on Miss Gish's blog as she is regularly posting about writing, inspiration, Dorset, events, etc. Over the past few days, we have been acquiring some new exciting stock (see picture above) - we will be posting about some of those finds in more details over the next few days, and you will find them on our stall soon! In the meantime, do go and visit our unit at The Customs House in West Bay, Dorset, where you will find colourful Arcane and ArtPix stock! |
