Matt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing will be back on the road over the next two weeks, with two great events!
First up will be a 1940s family day at the Mill Race Garden Centre in Colchester next Sunday 8th September (weather permitting).
Then on September 15th, it will be the big one - we are really excited!
Nelson events' Alexandra Palace Antiques Collectors, 20th Century & Art Deco Fair - now with a pop-up Vintage Fair!
MORE ABOUT THESE EVENTS ON MISS GISH'S BLOG!
During our stay in Devon, we have found some great additions to our stock of second-hand books! This is a rather glamorous selection...
There are some great novels by well-known writers in the pile, but I have to admit that I have picked them up partly because of the wonderful vintage images on their covers. They will fit very well on our stand at the forthcoming vintage and antiques fairs we will be attending (check out the EVENTS PAGE for dates.)
Here's a wonderful find: a special edition of Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat; in fact, it is the centenary edition published in 1989 by Alan Sutton Publishing in collaboration with the Bristol publishers of the first ever edition, J.W. Arrowsmith.
It features wonderful B&W illustrations and some evocative pictures of the journey as it was at the time the author wrote the book!
The "second-hand books for sale" section of this website hasn't been done yet, but we hope to find some time this autumn to list all our stock on here.
Tomorrow, the Arcane Publishing team is off to Devon... Our talented designer, Matt ArtPix, has done a little pre-short break update... READ IT HERE!
Arcane Publishing will be visiting The London Book Fair next year. We won't have a stall (at £300 per square metre, this is not something we can afford to do! Even the "New Title Showcase" is out of our reach, at £180 a pop...).
We will just go as visitors and will keep our ears and eyes open.
We are also thinking about bringing Arcane Publishing to Facebook. Maybe...
In other news, draft 1 of The Book of Thoth is coming on nicely, if slowly.
Carya Gish hopes to be starting on draft 2 from October onwards.
We are preparing our appearance at Shorelines: Literature Festival of the Sea that will take place in November.
Arcane Publishing is also developing a few non-fiction ideas at the moment, we'll keep you posted on this...
Finally, we have made some decisions about distribution. For the forthcoming year, Arcane Publishing will carry on distributing the books, but when the time comes to publish The Book of Thoth (next autumn), we will probably try and deal with one of the big distributors in order to bring Arcane Publishing's titles to a wider public. Watch this space!
Arcane publishing is now off to Devon for a few days...
Matt ArtPix has been hard at work on The Book of Thoth cover! And I think he is now VERY close to nailing it... This is my favourite design so far, so expect the final artwork to look quite a lot like this one!
We will also be working on some postcards for the autumn to promote I Am a Muse and The Book of Thoth, and we are really looking forward to Shorelines: Literature Festival of the Sea that will take place in November. A lot of work is to be done for the event!
More news on this very soon.
Arcane Publishing is a small independent imprint with a passion for beautiful books.
