11/22/2018 Stock for next week's events: Vintage Christmas at the Tank Museum, 01/12/2018 and 02/12/2018 Next weekend, which will be the first weekend of December, Matt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing will be sharing a stall at the Vintage Christmas event at the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset. Arcane will take a little corner of the stall and will make sure it is packed full of beautiful books and exciting ephemera (including some very nicely priced stocking fillers for the vintage lovers in your life!) Some of our items will be making their first appearance and we will also bring some rare things for you to have a look at (and buy!). I will be adding yet more classic glamour to my stall at the Tank Museum Vintage Christmas event on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December! I have found three beautiful books about those classic Hollywood actors - and favourites of mine: Cary Grant, James Stewart and Marilyn Monroe. And with my 1960s copy of "Happiness is a Warm Puppy" now sold, I was thrilled to get my hands on another lovely little Peanuts 1965 original: "Love is Walking Hand in Hand". They will all be on the stall I will share with Matt ArtPix at the Tank Museum Vintage Christmas event - all details HERE. I will post a blog about my stock for the event later this week!  11/11/2018 A successful Vintage Somerset fair! Arcane Publishing had a brilliant time at the Vintage Somerset fair in Wells yesterday! We had a single stall all of our own this time and we are delighted to report that it was, indeed, a success! We sold most of our bigger books, including some of our very recently acquired items such as The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics (bought by a well-known musician, how cool is that?) and The Album cover Album (more details about both books HERE). Here are a few pictures of the Arcane stall on the day... 
Quite a few of those lovely second-hand books are now gone! Thank you to all our customers who braved the wet weather to pay us a visit, and we hope you enjoy the wonderful books you have bought on our stall! And now, the hunt for yet more exciting stock can start... We hope to back in Wells in 2019! The next event for Matt ArtPix and Arcane will be a little bit special: the Tank Museum Vintage Christmas on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December.
We already have a thrilling stock ready for the visitors on both days, including some lovely and rare stocking fillers! We will of course post more details about the event and the stock we will take there nearer the time... And of course, we are already making a list of events to attend in 2019, which might also see Arcane open a "proper" online shop for its vintage/rare/second-hand books in addition to the books we publish ourselves!  This Saturday 10th November, Matt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing will be back at the rather fab Vintage Somerset fair at Wells' Town Hall! This time, instead of sharing a stall as we usually do, Arcane and ArtPix will have their own stall; therefore, you will get a full double stall of colourful vintage goodies from Matt ArtPix and a whole table packed full of books from Arcane Publishing! So, what will you find on the Arcane stall? Of course, the usual array of beautiful vintage/second-hand books, especially picked for this classy and cool event... We will take some of our brand new acquisitions with us! Please note that some extra items will grace our stall on the day! *Full-on glamour!*
*Action! Monsters! Detectives!*  *Music! Entertainment! Celebrity characters!*  We have a stock of 30 Movie magazines for any film buff/student out there!  A few bits of ephemera...  And of course, our very own Miss Gish's two novels, I Am a Muse and The Book of Thoth, published by Arcane Publishing, will make an appearance... Two novels for a very special price!
 I just love those illustrated detective novel covers. If it were me, I would buy them all the time - but I have to be reasonable as my house is already full of books...
Raymond Chandler's 1953 The Long Goodbye features once again the iconic detective Philip Marlowe. This lovely undated edition is a bit battered round the ages, but might attract the attention of any hard-boiled detective fiction collector! |
