So here we are, June 2018 this weekend, and it can only mean one thing for us Dorset-dwelling music fans: Alice's Wicked Tea Party! This is the grassroots festival's fourth edition and the second for us. Read Miss Gish's little report on last year's festival HERE. Once again this year, there are quite a few bands we want to see, especially the excellent the Membranes. But what this festival allows you to do is discover and listen to new bands outside of the genres you naturally go for and have a great time watching and listening to live music surrounded by the amazing countryside. Hopefully someone's warned the horses in the nearby field that the mad and noisy humans are coming back again! This edition of the festival promises to be bigger and better, and likewise, I do hope I will take pictures of a better quality... On Friday we will be enjoying the music as punters; on the Saturday, Arcane Publishing and Matt ArtPix will be setting up stall in one of the barns and display our wares to the audience: band t-shirts, original art, new and second-hand fiction and non-fiction, music and art magazines, and a box of discounted books at 50p each! Below, find a selection (there will be many more!) of items Arcane Publishing will be taking to the festival. See you on Friday in the audience and at the stall on Saturday!
When we left the Arcane/ArtPix towers early on Saturday morning, the sky was dark and the clouds low. On the way, the rain started falling and got worse as we approached Bridport. We arrived at the St Michael's estate under a sustained rain and thought we would never be able to set up our stall. Miraculously, within 10mn, the rain had stopped and we managed to sort out our stall - thanks to a bit of plastic kindly provided by our neighbouring stallholders! We had glorious weather the rest of the day and we had a fab time. We had tried to give our stall a 60s flavour to follow the day's theme! We were visited by loads of pooches, big and small - they always provide great entertainment! A special mention to the laid-back Ted at Old Albion, such a cool dude! Our next event is the fab music festival Alice's Wicked Tea Party on Friday and Saturday (we'll have a stall on the Saturday only).
We will be back at the Bridport Vintage Market in July (we're skipping one as it's a World Cup match day for England in the middle of the afternoon!) |
