It was a quieter than usual day at the Giant Shepton Flea last Sunday - blame it on the heat, the tennis and the football World Cup! Still, Matt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing had a great day!
It was also the first time my 1968 fashion portfolio was shown at a fair. Quite a bit of interest but no sale (I am selling the whole thing as one item, and you'd need to have deep pockets for this one!). I am considering my options to sell it online. I am also thinking about starting a "proper" online bookshop (I would prefer a brick-and-mortar one, but it's not going to happen any time soon!). Here are a few pictures of our stall - quite a few items have now gone, but if you see anything you'd love to own, do contact us... Our next event is the Bridport Vintage Market on Sunday 29th July. See our EVENTS PAGE for more details... Arcane Publishing and Matt ArtPix will be back to the Giant Shepton Flea tomorrow at The Royal Bath & West Showground in Somerset! We will have some very special items, and here is some of the stock Arcane Publishing will be bringing: Several years ago, I invested in this fantastic and completely unique fashion portfolio. I have decided that the Giant Shepton Flea is a prestigious enough event to show this one-off item! It contains a large size scrapbook made of pages of authentic 1960s & 1970s fashion magazines. Colourful extracts below (click on the gallery pictures to view them): The main section of the portfolio is an astonishing fashion project from a fashion student studying at the West Sussex College of Art in 1968 (and of course, I have a letter with all these crucial details!). I have researched the student and couldn't find anything about her... Hopefully she has made it in her dream job! The portfolio is genuinely jaw-dropping; here is an authentic 1968 catwalk collection with all the required details. Someone could actually recreate the whole collection just using these patterns! Look at the style of the drawings, 100% 1960s! I have over 120 original drawings, most with design notes and some with fabric swatches still attached! All sold in a brand new black art portfolio. Of course, Arcane Publishing is also a seller of second-hand books, and this time, I will concentrate my stock on glamour: Here's a rare book on the iconic French starlet Brigitte Bardot: I will have a varied stock of fashion-themed books, including quite a few rare items! I have two books about the infamous bohemian Paris of the 1920s and 1930s, including one with photographs and text by renowned photographer, writer, artist and filmmaker Brassai. I will also bring a little bit of my stock of ephemera and vinyls, including this stash of eleven The Shadows French "45 tours" from the 1960s!
7/2/2018 Alice's Wicked Tea Party report! We had a fantastic time at local festival Alice's Wicked Tea Party on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset! Our stall looked great and we sold quite a few items!
