      Following up on our previous blog, we've gone out and bought some MORE stock... We just cannot help ourselves! We really need to open this online bookshop, don't we?  Brand new stock ready to be catalogued and priced up! In the meantime, next week, we'll be adding a few items to our shelves in the unit we share with Matt ArtPix... Do you love the new series of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL on Channel 5? We loved the first episode and cannot wait to see the next ones! So why not read the books which have inspired the series? We have just acquired seven books by James Herriot! Five lovely little paperbacks with cover illustrations by one of our favourite artists, Thelwell (we collect his books!). I cannot think of an artist more appropriate for this series of books! They will be sold as one neat little bundle.  And we've got two more substantial hardback books of his too!
 Now for something completely different: We have acquired a 1984 edition of the DUNE trilogy. The very same year, cult director David Lynch made the movie inspired by the books! It is being remade again for modern audiences and should be released sometime soon... It probably won't be as crazy as the 80s one, though.
9/2/2020 New in stock... And... I have done it again! Our shelves are absolutely packed full of books - the Arcane Books stock (Arcane Books is what I am calling the pre-loved, vintage and rare book trading side of Arcane Publishing). As all the events we were supposed to attend with Matt ArtPix have been cancelled, we have all our stock safely at home waiting for the online bookshop to open. We've had to postpone this because of the very uncertain climate, but we hope to be able to open a "proper" online shop in 2021 in order to sell all our pre-loved, vintage and rare books as well as our vintage ephemera. So we were not going to get any new stock until things are up and running properly again but, of course, as we've started to venture out, we've found some lovely items to add to our shelves (and to Miss Gish's collection...) Here are the brand new items we've acquired which will be added to the stock shelves! We will do more details posting when they are on sale - at an event or in the online shop next year... First of all, cinema books... This is our biggest section - just because we do love classic cinema and always end of acquiring yet more books about what the French call "the 7th Art"!
If you read Miss Gish's blog posts, you'll know that she has her own collection of illustrated books, children's books and others (she also has an extensive collection of art books and ... cinema books!) We have acquired a nice little stash of lovely vintage booklets and small books - some a bit knackered but most full of great illustrations or pictures.
