Carya Gish has started a series of author/publishers interviews on her website. She is thrilled to present to you the first in the series called "Book Talk". And what a way to get started! An in-depth interview with the very talented Jordan Reyne, whose first novel, Remembering The Dead, is out now.
What began as a "Book talk" became something else altogether. Really, really interesting. Subjectivity in the way we interpret history - very fitting with the current debate surrounding WW1 "celebrations" - as well as philosophy, music, the fluidity of language(s), writing, self-publishing, storytelling, surviving... It's all in there and more. Read Jordan Reyne's interview HERE. Arcane Publishing author Carya Gish and designer Matt ArtPix both appear in the brand new issue of V&OAK magazine (Vintage and One of a Kind).
There is a small feature about Matt ArtPix and a whole page review of I Am a Muse! Read Carya Gish's blog about the review HERE. There are loads of interesting features in the magazine and everything is high quality and elegant... V&OAK is distributed to most newsagents in Central London and is also available in Harrods and Selfridges! There are more stockists around the country; for the comprehensive list of stockists, go HERE. To buy V&OAK online, go HERE. To read more reviews and features on I Am a Muse, go HERE. Carya Gish now has an author page on the Squid Publishing Inc website!
We are thrilled to be in such good company: Ignite Books, Steve Pottinger and Joolz Denby are on there as well! There is a small review of the Shorelines literary festival written by Carya Gish in issue 16 of Southend's cultural magazine, Level 4 (a longer report from the festival can be found HERE).
This should have been a printed magazine, but unfortunately the editor didn't receive enough advertising revenue to pay for the printing. The magazine is available to read online HERE. There are quite a few interesting articles in there so make sure you go and have a read! 4/12/2014 Devon blogsThe Arcane Publishing team are back from Devon, and we have come back with some fresh ideas and some great vintage books! We've also blogged about it...
So go to MISS CARYA GISH'S BLOG to read about some great collectable books and to MATT ARTPIX'S BLOG for some stunning landscape photography and a very special scrapbook! 3/31/2014 Matt ArtPix's new seriesCarya Gish is polishing off The Book of Thoth, and therefore not blogging as much at the moment. Arcane Publishing and Matt ArtPix are also taking a break from fairs and markets. This doesn't mean nothing is happening behind the scenes!
Matt ArtPix is working on a new series of images, Southend postcards... He regularly posts updates about the designs, so head to his blog to read more about it! More news about our various activities soon! 3/17/2014 Crook Log picturesArcane Publishing and Matt ArtPix are taking a break from fairs and markets to plot their next move! We hope to bring you some more news soon...
In the meantime, draft 3 of The Book of Thoth is going well - one copy is with our reader! - and we hope to start typesetting the book at the end of June. We are still on schedule! Here are a few pictures of the Arcane Publishing stall at the Crook Log Antiques and collectors fair on Sunday 9th March. We hope to bring the stall to Central London by this summer. Watch this space! 3/3/2014 Next event! BexleyheathMatt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing had a great day yesterday at the first Southend Vintage and retro fair. I am sure this event would really grow if made regular! This would be great for us as we live about 10mn drive from the venue! This Sunday 9th March, it's something different: The Crook Log Antiques and Collectable Fair in Bexleyheath! This will be the first time that Arcane Publishing will have a whole stall, next to Matt ArtPix of course... I will have a slightly different stock, this time rarer books and some oddities - I will still bring a few of my classic cinema and fashion stock, though! Here is some of the stock I will take with me on Sunday! And of course, I will have a few copies of I Am a Muse...
2/18/2014 First fair of 2014 in Southend-on-SeaOur first fair of 2014 is a bit less than two weeks away now! It will be the Southend Vintage and Retro Fair organised by Haddon Events, and will be taking place at The Chase Sports and Fitness Centre in Prittlewell Chase.
Matt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing will be sharing a double stall, and we will have a few copies of I Am a Muse for sale at the event. For this fair, we will be concentrating on classic cinema and icons, as well as fashion. For our next event in Bexleyheath in London on March 9th, we will bring some rarer books on a wider range of subjects - but always concentrating mainly on music, entertainment, theatre and cinema. We will post a specific blog about this event next week, but I can already tell you that Arcane Publishing will have its own stall, and therefore will be able to spread out the books a little and be more creative with the display. It will be a trial run for some more Arcane Publishing stalls in the future! Matt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing hope to start trading at Old Spitalfields Market soon - we need to sort out the logistics first! Arcane Publishing's ambition is to launch a small pop-up bookshop one day (probably next year!)... Watch this space! A sneak peek at our stock for next week: Matt ArtPix has been hard at work on the style sheet for The Book of Thoth. We still have a few things to sort out, but it is looking good...
