6/11/2014 Alchemical symbolsApparently, the French town where Miss Gish grew up was a big centre for alchemy ! This series of intriguing symbols are located in a cul-de-sac named "l'impasse du chat" (the cat's cul-de-sac).
Sign 3 shows John Dee's Monas Hieroglyphica, which features in our second novel, The Book of Thoth. 5/21/2014 The Right PlaceWe have now sorted our publishing schedule - and budget - for The Right Place, our third novel. The provisional pub date is November 2017. It looks like a long way, but it takes a lot of time and hard work to get a novel published... We have worked out all the crucial stages...
Carya Gish has started a series of author/publishers interviews on her website. She is thrilled to present to you the first in the series called "Book Talk". And what a way to get started! An in-depth interview with the very talented Jordan Reyne, whose first novel, Remembering The Dead, is out now.
What began as a "Book talk" became something else altogether. Really, really interesting. Subjectivity in the way we interpret history - very fitting with the current debate surrounding WW1 "celebrations" - as well as philosophy, music, the fluidity of language(s), writing, self-publishing, storytelling, surviving... It's all in there and more. Read Jordan Reyne's interview HERE. 5/8/2014 Stuff!Things are happening and we hope to be able to share a few exciting things with you on here in the near future... We are just waiting for the post to be delivered and things to get confirmed... Bear with us!
In the meantime, head to Carya Gish's new blog to read about what's happening with The Book of Thoth manuscript, Book 3, The Right Place, and about what Steve Pottinger, who has typset I Am a Muse for us, has been up to! There is a small review of the Shorelines literary festival written by Carya Gish in issue 16 of Southend's cultural magazine, Level 4 (a longer report from the festival can be found HERE).
This should have been a printed magazine, but unfortunately the editor didn't receive enough advertising revenue to pay for the printing. The magazine is available to read online HERE. There are quite a few interesting articles in there so make sure you go and have a read! 4/12/2014 Devon blogsThe Arcane Publishing team are back from Devon, and we have come back with some fresh ideas and some great vintage books! We've also blogged about it...
So go to MISS CARYA GISH'S BLOG to read about some great collectable books and to MATT ARTPIX'S BLOG for some stunning landscape photography and a very special scrapbook! 3/17/2014 Crook Log picturesArcane Publishing and Matt ArtPix are taking a break from fairs and markets to plot their next move! We hope to bring you some more news soon...
In the meantime, draft 3 of The Book of Thoth is going well - one copy is with our reader! - and we hope to start typesetting the book at the end of June. We are still on schedule! Here are a few pictures of the Arcane Publishing stall at the Crook Log Antiques and collectors fair on Sunday 9th March. We hope to bring the stall to Central London by this summer. Watch this space! 3/3/2014 Next event! BexleyheathMatt ArtPix and Arcane Publishing had a great day yesterday at the first Southend Vintage and retro fair. I am sure this event would really grow if made regular! This would be great for us as we live about 10mn drive from the venue! This Sunday 9th March, it's something different: The Crook Log Antiques and Collectable Fair in Bexleyheath! This will be the first time that Arcane Publishing will have a whole stall, next to Matt ArtPix of course... I will have a slightly different stock, this time rarer books and some oddities - I will still bring a few of my classic cinema and fashion stock, though! Here is some of the stock I will take with me on Sunday! And of course, I will have a few copies of I Am a Muse...
